Teachers engrossed in STEM Skills Design Challenge at the end of the day.
22 teachers from the Hunter took up the challenge of learning about Design, CAD and 3D Printing in a 1 Day BOSTES accredited course at St Marys High School, Gateshead in November this year. Teachers were shown how Design, CAD and 3D Printing fits into the classroom activities using HOT and project based learning.
At the end of the day all teachers had the opportunity to test their newfound skills by participating collaboratively in a design challenge. The projects created by teachers were unique, functional and a demonstration of how easy it is to usher this technology into the classroom and reinvigorate the curriculum through a fusion of STEM and the Arts. Below are some screen shots of what amazing designs they achieved in just one day using Design, CAD and 3D Printing. Every time we run these courses someone comes up with a daring and unique idea using this design challenge. Here is what some of the teachers said about the day:
The most useful thing I learnt:
“How to set up and use a printer and the team activity was good. Top Day!”
“What to buy and how to implement the theory in the classroom. A great course looking forward to the next level.”
“How to create objects in CAD and download into the slicing software. I also enjoyed the knowledge in the last session. Thank you.”
